Portfolios may be input to the system, or edited once they have been input, via the Portfolio Input Box.
There are three basic types of portfolio that may be analyzed with HIMIPref™ - Portfolio :
- intended for use with portfolios of over $10-million in value.
- riskiness of the portfolio is determined by comparison with the chosen index.
- Attempting to determine trades in an account of this type when the value of the account is zero will result in an error.
- constraints may be set to specify limits on portfolio construction
- see Glossary - Portfolio Method for further details.
- Issues [with positive swap issues] :
- intended for relatively small accounts
- portfolio risk relative to the index is not examined
- trade risk is determined by the degree of similarity between the issues bought and sold
- attempting to determine trades in such an account will fail if the account has a zero value
- constraints may be set to specify limits on portfolio construction
- see Glossary - Issue Method for further details
- Issues [with zero swap issues] :
- intended for research purposes only
- trading grid examines all issues as both purchases and sales
- computation of potential trades can be lengthy
- attempting to determine trades when the account has a non-zero value will fail
- see Glossary - Issue Method for further details
